Customers Refused Help After Violent AssaultOn the way home from an evening's indulgence at Lawyers, my partner and I were attacked by a group of youths. I was punched in the face and kicked unconscious while lying on the pavement outside the church at the top of Hills Road. When we came to, we staggered back into Lawyers' to ask for help. The proprietor refused to offer any assistance and would not call the police saying he "had his reputation to think about".I was in tears and had blood coming out of my mouth. Fortunately, our friend was still at the bar and took us next door to the Singapore restaurant where they couldn't have been more helpful, even though we had previously never set foot in there. This took place several years ago; I found the incident too upsetting to think about until now. The perpetrators were never caught. If the police had been called promptly when requested, things may have been different. |
