Heinz Heinz gave Don Pasquale Restaurant a rating of 0/5

A small Italian restaurant facing serious competition with Pizza Express and Starbucks opposite in service as well as in quality. I understand that such a place tries to make the most out of their seating at peak-time. So we felt a certain pity for the elderly man with horn-rimmed glasses telling us that we are expected to have lunch on his premises. Although we‘d rather had a cup of coffee we agreed to take a starter first. Obviously, this still wasn’t to his satisfaction and we decided to leave. The upshot, however, was what followed afterwards. I dropped my menu and he shouted at me that I shouldn’t throw it at him. Which wasn’t the case unless he considers the table a part of his body in which case I apologize. The rudeness and malignancy that followed rivals that of white-van-drivers after nearly knocking a cyclist off his bike. Examples of language used: ‘piss off’ and ‘I will tear you apart’. This service at DON PASQUALE is THE WORST EVER and recommended only for people with masochistic tendencies.

Management Response from Pasquale Benedetto - 24 Sep 2008
You have written yourself that the market place in Cambridge is a serious working environment with alot of competition, and as a family business, we need to capture as much as possible to survive. If you are so educated in the industry and you are aware that the outside seating is so important, why would you think a coffee is ok at lunchtime? You created this situation and we have been present in the market place for 35 years because we know our business and our customers, especially those who deserve to be looked after. You believe that the customer is always right. That is not always the case, everyone and thing deserves respect, just because you would like a coffee, there are plenty of other places you can go that cater for the drinker only. With this, you are more than welcome to debate this with me over a coffee whenever your in the city..... not at lunch time though !!!
