Jan Akkerman

An evening of auwful jaw-dropping musical excellence. And not a moment of the auwful pretentiousness often associated with artists of this era was shown. Jan Akkerman played his socks off - backed by an all Dutch band of drums, bass and keyboards, all of whom were masters in there own right - it seems unfair to single out one of the excellent band - but the young drummer played with such precision and mixed heady cocktails of time signatures that most regular drummers would be embarassed. The show opened with Focus tracks - Answer, Questions Questions Answers, Focus 2 and Anonymous - followed by some of his solo album work, notably Tranquiliser. Paul Weller's "You do something to me " was an odd cover , but it really worked. Hocus Pocus and Sylia worked the crowd well, Jan's jazz influeces were evident throuhout the show. An evening enjoyed by all - but nobody enjoyed it more than Jan and the band. Catch him if you can on his constant touring schedule...or if not youtube has a heap of goodies with him.

Joe Bonamassa

Joe Bonamassa is a true star. If you get the opportunity to see this amazingly talented musicial live then go - quickly - as you will be truly blown away. He is jaw droppingly good. Jow oozes talent from every pore and he's a nice guy too. You can see he enjoys playing live, and I think his live performance is better than listening to his pre-recorded work. His guitar playing is that of a master and he has a wonderfully mellow voice. We saw Joe at the Junction on February 14th 2008, and I immediately went home and booked more gig tickets. Enough said.

Matt Berry & Amp

AMAZING NIGHT!!! both Jonas 3 and Matt's set were blindingly good. The venue might have been a tad small for it all but I was having too much fun to care about it at the time. BRAVO MEN!
